Where Did That One Recipe Go?

Five or six years ago, although there might have been previous hints, a certain author really began showing her true colors with hateful likes, tweets, and eventually, full-length essays. These days, it feels like she gets worse with every passing news story.

Jenne and I have always worked on our bookish recipes and recorded them on this blog mainly for ourselves and our own entertainment. From the shutdown in 2020 through now, we’ve largely taken a pause from regular projects and posts. But recently, we noticed that there was still some traffic on our old posts based on this author’s series.

Until 2020, I was the kind of millennial that made aspects of these books my whole personality. (I had been planning a tattoo! I had dreamed of a themed wedding!) I understand that some fans can continue to enjoy the world built by this author and separate the art from its creator. I’ve found that I personally can’t. The stories used to bring me so much joy. But now, any reminders of this series, and the fact that the author profits off of everything associated with it, evoke mourning, anger, and disgust. So, with Jenne’s encouragement, I found a little time this weekend to do what I’ve been meaning to for a while: I took down all of our posts related to the series.

We at 36 Eggs are feminist cisgender women, and staunch allies and supporters of trans and nonbinary individuals. Over the years, I’ve been learning how the imposition of a rigid gender binary model hurts all of society. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Trans rights are human rights. And we’ll keep fighting till the world recognizes them.

Happy Pride Month, everyone!
